  This was interesting on a number of accounts; as was Roy's recent, er, 'mis-understanding' with the sub-editing world of which my Mrs is still, just, a proud and defiant part. http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/greenslade/2009/feb/18/newspapers-local-newspapers Because the fact that Roy is now dusting off his 60s roots and finding that first, intoxicating whiff of revolution in his nostrils is - for me - exactly where we're at right now. And have been for a while, in fairness. The last great redoubt of an Industrial Age is cracking and splintering before us; the workers - subs included - now control both the means of production (a mobile phone... ) ...

  The much-trailed 'Digital Britain' report thumps on everyone's desk tomorrow and from the snippets that are already emerging it looks like the Government have decided that the future of local news provision lies in the hands of TrinityMirror, Newsquest, Johnston, etc... Cos it ain't going to be ITV. And it can't only be the BBC. But it might be Channel Four.
